the UK, not a group member.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>"CARF has never encouraged protesters to throw bricks at police," the spokesperson said in a statement.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>"Individualistic violence does nothing to challenge the the University of Melbourne is reviewing the circumstances around the meeting held on campus.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>It says the event was not endorsed by the university and promised to take "appropriate action".</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>The revelation comes as calls continue to grow for a protest permit system in Victoria, like those used interstate.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>"If she was serious about ending these protests, Jacinta Allan would have stopped them," opposition spokesperson Matthew Guy said.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>But Allan insists Victoria Police has the powers necessary to control crowds adequately.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>"We've seen in New South Wales, we've seen in Sydney that a permit system has not stopped people who come to protest, not to protest peacefully," Allan said.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>"This is the advice of the chief commissioner... that this mechanism is not something
