class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span> According to the </span><em><span>Retail Trading Amendment (ANZAC Day Trading Hours) Act 2024</span></em><span> (NSW), there are full day restrictions for non-exempt retail businesses such as large supermarkets, department stores and fashion outlets.</span></div></div><div><div class="OUTBRAIN" data-reactroot="" data-src="//www.9news.com.au/national/anzac-day-long-weekend-business-hours-across-australia/d2d3b5c0-77f5-4ee1-9938-d36f5dad6f4c" data-widget-id="AR_5"></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Exemptions exist for chemists, cafes, takeaway food stores, news agencies, petrol stations, fruit shops, florists and more</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Small shop businesses employing up to four employees and no more than two owners are also an exception if the employees choose to work on the public holiday.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><strong><span>VICTORIA</span></strong></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Retailers are to be closed between 12:01am and 1:00pm on ANZAC day, according to the </span><em><span>Shop Trading Reform Act 1996</span></em><span> (VIC) and </span><em><span>Anzac Day Act 1958</span></em><span> (VIC).</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Similar to NSW, exempt shops that are not restricted by half-day hours include convenience stores, small shops and kiosks.</span></div></div><div class="player__video-container"><img goULFa"><span>In Tasmania, it is an offence to open a non-exempt store before 12:30pm with possible fines for operators on ANZAC Day according to </span><em><span>Anzac Day Observance 1929</span></em><span> (TAS).</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Exempt stores listed in the Act include chemists, petrol stations, cafes, restaurants and shops that are not located within a shopping centre and have no more than 10 employees in the shop on any day of the month may also be exempt.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>However, regardless of any exemptions, requiring an employee to work on ANZAC Day, or any public holiday, is considered an offence without a written agreement from the employee.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><strong><span>QUEENSLAND</span></strong></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>The </span><em><span>Trading (allowable Hours) Act 1990</span></em><span> (QLD), states all trading for major retailers and non-exempt shops is banned on the ANZAC Day public holiday.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Smaller shops can open from 1pm and exempt shops like pharmacies, cafes, bakeries and news agents can open for business as independent retailers must remain closed until 1pm on ANZAC day.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Generally no liquor is to be sold before 1pm, though there are exemptions for licensed premises for liquor that must be sold with a meal between 10am and 1pm.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><strong><span>SOUTH AUSTRALIA</span></strong></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>ANZAC Day restrictions in South Australia depend on where the retailer is located and what goods they offer.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Some non-exempt shops such as large retailers in the Adelaide CBD and other tourist precincts, are allowed to open between 12pm and 5pm.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Smaller stores less than 200 square metres and other specific retailers like chemists and petrol stations can trade as they please.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><strong><span>AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY</span></strong></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Businesses can operate as usual with out any limitations or restrictions on trading.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><strong><span>NORTHERN TERRITORY</span></strong></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Like the ACT, businesses can operate with out any limitations or restrictions.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>However, Northern Territory alcohol rules and restrictions that allow liquor licensees to sell alcohol on certain days will still apply on the ANZAC Day public holiday.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><strong><span>WESTERN AUSTRALIA</span></strong></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Un-exempted general and major retailers must stay closed on ANZAC Day unless they have applied for specific exemptions.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Small shops such as chemists, petrol stations or other general stores are allowed to trade 24 hrs a day throughout the entire year.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><h3><span>Monday 27th of April</span></h3></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><strong><span>NSW/WA/ACT</span></strong></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>The Monday public holiday will not be a restricted trading day so all businesses are allowed to operate as usual.
