firefighter who ran through the Holland Tunnel in hear full gear to reach the Twin Towers on September 11," she added.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>She also watched while swimmer still in their togs ran for their lives up the famous road.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>As the grim news came flooding in, Ching – who has lived in Bondi her whole life – said she struggled to fathom the scale of the tragedy.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>The death toll now stands at 16, including one of the gunmen.</span></div></div><div Australian hero for running towards danger as the gunmen killed innocent people who were enjoying an evening at the Chanukah by the Sea event.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Multiple members of the famous Bondi Beach lifeguard team stepped up to help the wounded.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>One lifeguard even paddled into the water to help a struggling swimmer amid the chaos.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>Doolan's fellow lifeguard Clint Kimmins said his colleague Doolan's actions were nothing short of heroic.</span></div></div><div his team's bravery and said he is incredibly proud of them.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>"It was amazing, we got calls from the club as it was happening - lifesavers here in Bondi ran straight out to get children out of the playground, as they were under fire, other lifesavers ran out to perform CPR on people who had been what was essentially a battlefield - doing what they do best, except this time it was on the land.</span></div></div><div class="block-content"><div class="styles__Container-sc-1ylecsg-0 goULFa"><span>"At North Bondi, they were helping four victims with gunshot wounds in their boatshed and at the same time, there was a woman who had gone into labour in the surf club who needed
